Uno Hake Brush for cooking (horse hair / goat hair)
Uno Hake Brush has been a fixture in Tokyo’s brush making scene since 1917. In its century of existence the micro-company has reached the point where today its team is a mother and daughter working in the shadow of newly erected Tokyo SkyTree tower. Despite the change around them, their technique in brush manufacture remains the same. Threads of animal hair, arranged and hand planted into rows. Not so much designed as born from craft, the brushes they make connect the planted section of hairs to a separate piece of wood branded with the Uno logo.
Put simply, the hairs of this brush will not come out.
These cooking brushes are handy for baking, or applying sauce to tako-yaki octopus balls.
