Yachimun Toshingama Soba Choko Cup
The work of Toshingama is a modern representation of Okinawa's Tsuboya style of pottery. The Tsuboya area of the Okinawan capital Naha, was once its centre of ceramics. The difficulty of maintaining traditional kilns within a modern city means that it is now largely an area to buy pottery, while the makers themselves are based elsewhere in Okinawa. Masakazu Soma was trained in Tsuboya, and now produces works in its style from his base in Yomitan.
